Thank you for your August 25, 2000, memorandum telling us of the planned activities for resolving issues related to Phase 8 of the Bay-Delta Water Rights Hearing. I look forward to hearing more detail in the next few monthly reports.
At your request, we postponed Phase 8 of the hearing to allow negotiations between export and upstream interests to resolve significant Phase 8 issues. Your postponement request indicated that
it would be reasonable to resume the hearing at the end of this year or early next year.
Accordingly, the State Water Resources Control Board intends to issue a notice in December specifying dates for resumption of the hearing. The notice will specify new dates for submittal of evidence, for opening briefs and for the hearing. We anticipate that the first hearing date will be in March.
We hope that your negotiations result in agreements. In the next monthly report, please provide a schedule for continued negotiations and your anticipated completion date.
